You raise some good issues Tamara with regards to file compatibility. There shouldn't be too many problems sharing files between Windows and Mac computers - especially if you are mostly dealing with standard office type documents (word, excel, etc). One option would be to share files with your clients in the PDF format if they don't need to edit them but simply need to read, save, or print these documents. If they do need to edit and collaborate on documents you might need to do a bit more testing to see if there are any negative results. I will be dealing with the same thing when I make the switch to a Mac - however I mostly collaborate with team members and only send PDFs to clients or partners.

LifeHacker wrote a great article called "<a href="http://lifehacker.com/311618/the-complete-guide-to-macwindows-interoperability" rel="nofollow">The Complete Guide to Mac/Windows Interoperability</a>" that will answer most of the questions and concerns you have.

If and when you make the switch please be sure to come back and share your experiences with us as I'm sure there are many others considering doing the same thing.

Phil,
Good advice. I'm painfully running Vista and want to upgrade but also don't have the time to do the work or be without my computer. Maybe an upgrade over Vista is the way to go until I decide about my next laptop. I'm also considering switching to a Mac, just get nervous about compatibility with various clients and don't want to end up running Windows on the Mac.

Great Joel - glad you waded through the fresh install and are now able to enjoy it. I'm sure it runs better with a fresh install and I'll probably get around to doing that once I have some more time. Still discovering some great new things about Windows 7 the more I use it. Jason recently found the Snipping Tool which is a built in way to do screen captures. As a programmer you might find that really useful! Just click the Start Button and type SNIP into the search box. Pretty cool!

Phil, I opted to go with a fresh install of WIn7. Like you said it is taking me about 2 days to get back up and running due to installing all my programs and service packs that I need.

It's been very stable for me so far and I am really liking it.
