I also find the use of video conferencing or chatting to be a big boost in this area. When using Skype with others I try to use video when possible as I find that it helps us connect better and makes future conversations (even if they are simply by email or phone) much different as we have already met "face-to-face" even though it was virtually. It's amazing how well you can get to know folks, and how easy it is to find people that share common interests. I love your quote "our conversations are richer" - that's just it. When I see people in person or talk to them on the phone, conversations can instantly take off since we've kept up with each other through Twitter, Facebook, or even blogging.
